Summery Party Food
Are there any good summery barbecue type recipes that are diabetic friendly? I've been invited to a party for a friend and her husband and both are diabetic. I don't usually have to worry about such things but I don't want to bring something they can't enjoy.

I love Barbecue and usually can't eat it because most BBQ sauces are full of sugar. So if it were me I would make something like BBQ chicken with a sugar free barbecue sauce.

That sounds like a great sweet idea. I know afew diabetics but none that have done BBQ for quite sometime for the same reasons. Are you going to make a homemade sauce or try to find a store bought?

I wonder if you could just use a rub instead of a sauce for bbq to get around the sugar problem? I bought a killer hickory bbq rub a couple years ago that had no sugar in it. We used it for ribs and it came out wonderfully.
I'm not sure about side dishes though.

Anything made with sweet potatoes is excellent for a diabetic. My ex is diabetic, and my nutritionist and his physician both agree that sweet potatoes are much better for diabetics than white potatoes are. Both have stated adamantly that white potatoes are THE WORST vegetable a diabetic can eat.
