Signing Off...For Now
Well...
I guess we all know at this time what is about to occur. It appears that Houston will take the worst of this storm, and I DO NOT LIKE IT!
Storm surge is projected to 20' which will in fact flood my home with ease. My wife and daughter will leave today and head north towards DFW and Friday I am heading to Conroe. I cannot be that far away from my office as we have to be up and running ASAP to assist with storm restoration for the power companies.
I wish the best for all you that are in the path of this monster. I will take with me all of your kind thoughts and prayers and resign myself to the fact that although the storm will take my possessions, my family, friends, and co-workers will be safe and at some future point in time, I will be able to talk to you all again on somewhat better terms and get back to what this forum is for.
I cannot applaude you all enough for keeping this thread positive even though it is not Chef MC related, and even in the darkest of times, I will remember each of you and how positive you all have been.
I look forward to the day to come soon where I can start a thread saying "Signing On!".
Talk to you all soon and be safe!
Jason

Awwwww Jason thanks for the great compliment about the board. I think Michael would want us to bond and do just what we are doing. We are a caring group and it shows in our posts. Now as you know this isn't a final farewell. We all will be back. Everyone in Texas please be safe. I don't think I can get out of town. The traffic is bumper to bumper here. I was on the internet last nite until after 1 AM and there isn't any motels or hotels in a 500 mile radius that has any vacancies. I will continue on the boards as long as I can.

How far reaching are these hurricanes? It looks like it is hitting a long way from Rockport. Up near Houston which is a few hours away. Do they affect that wide an area destructively?

Yes Kathy they can and even spun off tornado's to boot along with lots of rain. It varies according to how big the storm gets, with it being a 5 out on the sea it cannot keep up this strength for the entire time and will probably weaken when it hits land. Even a 4 is a storm to respect and can cause great destruction.

As you all can tell, I am still here.
Houston is becoming a ghost town. Sounds weird for a city of over 4 million. This thing has taken a turn northward and we are scheduled now for a direct hit on Houston. My family is already out of here, and I will be leaving at noon. Traffic is as bad as your hearing if not worse. 8 miles in 8 hours. But people are leaving.
Thanks for all your thought and continued prayers from those of you that pray are most welcome and appreciated.
.......This one's gonna hurt........
Talk to you all again when I can.
Jason
