Saturday, did you cook?
I spent 3.5 hours at a Ford dealership this morning. They had trouble with the financing because they only allow 15% of your income. (I'm within about 30 bucks a month) My negative equity on my truck is killin me. They are checking with other banks but I was prepared to drive off the lot with a new car. ($30, I can't believe they are persnickity over 30 bucks) I could have gotten a huyndai last week and may do so now. I would rather have the Ford focus so I guess I'll give them till monday. I'm disappointed.
Anyway I just fired up the crock pot when I came home from the store. (still in my little truck damnit) I threw in about a pound and a half of stew meat, a can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of italian seasoned tomato paste, a couple oz of beer, 2 carrots, 3 celery, 1/3 yellow onion, 5 large sliced mushrooms, 1 large white potato, oregeno, basil, parsley, garlic, salt n pepper, chili powder, and cumin. Beef stew today in the crock pot, and pretty good too.

Not cooking today but will be firing up the grill and all the stove burners tomorrow.
I might use the microwave later to heat up some cheese and artichoke dip to munch on while watching TV tonight.

It's been pretty hot here all week. Didn't feel like cooking, but we've had take out the last two nights. It was a toss up between tacos and fruit salad or homemade chili, corn muffins and a green salad; I got stuff for chili (then I can have leftovers for lunch!).
Sorry about your car, Davey. Car dealers suck, huh? Maybe if you go back in a week, they'll try to work something out, i.e., lower the price, because they know you're serious about buying a car and because cars sitting in the lot don't do them any good.

We just picked up a huge meat order from our butcher for the deep freezer. I pulled out a leg of lamb when we got back and roasted it with yukon gold potatoes. Made a warm creamy garlic green bean salad to go with it.

I fed all a large breakfast! I myself had two pancakes with one teaspoon of butter. I had 22 dite chips for lunch and I'm having a boxed diet meal for dinner. Guess I'm just not hungry today.

Just tried some Angus beef Frijitas (very tender - used Tyler's Mojo marinade) on the grill, with roasted mushrooms, onions and green peppers, plus gucamole.

Sorry to hear about your truck fiasco, Davey. I used to have a Mitsubishi Precis, the same car as a Hyundai Excel, about 8 years ago which ran like a DREAM. I loved that little car, even named it the "Roadent". The funniest thing was, having gotten rid of a much larger car, driving the Precis felt like I was riding on a covered skateboard, it was THAT low to the ground, LOL.
In any case, should you decide to go with a Japanese anything, the best advice I can offer you is MAKE SURE YOU KEEP OIL IN THE ENGINE!!!!! These Jap cars run HOT, and I was warned by the dealership service manager that the engine would seize if it ran out of oil. I had no problems at all until the car was 6 years old, 1 year past paying off the loan, and with only 16,000 miles on it (I took REAL good care of that car, doggone it). Then the engine developed an oil leak and I would put oil in it, but only when the oil light came on. Eventually, after quite a few months, my brother discovered that it was the "oil sending unit" which was defective and replaced it. Unfortunately it was a bit too late, as about 2 months later I was on my way to work when the engine did truly seize for good and all, and there went the "Roadent."
Best cars I ever drove in all my 30 years of driving were my first car ever, a Chevy Nova which I had for 13 years, and a used Subaru GL wagon. I took the Nova to Colorado and drove it on unpaved mountain roads like it was a Jeep - couldn't kill that car with a sledgehammer. It came back to Connecticut and I eventually traded it in for a scarlet Lincoln Continental (the first husband's dumb idea). THe guy who bought the Nova had it for another 3-4 years before I stopped seeing it on the road. I got the Subaru when the Lincoln died, it was a 14 year old car that a tree had fallen on and the passenger door was Bondoed beyond belief. The inside of the car was full of mildew (which did wonders for my allergies) but it ran like a prince and the air conditioning was fantastic. I ended up having to sell the thing to a local junkyard for $50 because I couldn't stand driving it with the body all dented, Bondoed and rusted out like it was. If the body had been in better shape I'd probably still have that car. It's been probably 20 years and I still miss that darn Subaru.
