FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- February 2, 2009 -- Tropical Nut and Fruitof Orlando, FL is voluntarily recalling 5, 10 and 30 pound packages of Granulated Peanuts because the Granulated Peanuts were manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) at its Blakely, GA plant and have the potential to be contaminated with

Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
The recalled Granulated Peanuts were distributed in the Southeastern US to distributors and retailers. Tropical last received Granulated Peanuts from PCA on August 6, 2008.
