Rite Aid Announces Voluntary Recall Of Peanut Products

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- CAMP HILL, PA (Feb. 6, 2009) – Rite Aid is voluntarily recalling two of its products containing peanuts that were sold in many Rite Aid stores. The company has been notified by the manufacturer that these products contain peanuts from Peanut Corporation of America, which is the focus of a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigation into potential salmonella contamination of peanut products. Rite Aid is not aware of any reported cases of illness related to these products, and it has issued this voluntary recall as a precautionary measure.
Rite Aid takes the safety of its customers seriously and is working with the FDA on this recall. Rite Aid has already instructed all of its stores to remove the following products:

1. Rite Aid Chocolate Peanuts (15 oz.), UPC 1182235538
2. Rite Aid Bridge Mix (15 oz.), UPC 1182237539

Any customer who purchased these recalled products should immediately discontinue use and return the items to a Rite Aid Pharmacy for a refund. For additional information, please contact Rite Aid at 1-800-RITEAID.
