PaleyBar Expands the Nationwide Recall of Jam-N-Peanuts Bars Because of Possible Health Risk

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- March 25, 2009 -- PaleyBar of Portland, Oregon is expanding the recall of Jam-n-Peanuts Bars, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The bars were manufactured by Betty Lou's, Inc., McMinnville, Oregon using peanut products recalled by Peanut Corporation of American because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
Jam-n-Peanuts Bars were distributed nationwide online (via internet), at Paley's Place Bistro & Bar and through retailers located in the states of Oregon, Washington, Connecticut and New York.
The recall only affects Jam-n-Peanuts Bars. UPC codes 897426000024 for a single bar and 897426000123 for a box of 12 bars with "Best By" dates of:

You can find the "Best By" date printed on the wrapper of individual bars, as well as on the underside of each box.
We ask that you please examine any bars you may have, and return those with affected dates to the address below for a full refund.
