FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- February 6, 2009 -- Erin Baker’s Wholesome Baked Goods of Bellingham, WA is recalling Peanut Butter Breakfast Cookies, Rocky Road Breakfast Cookies and Peanut Butter Home-style Granola as a precautionary measure because it has the potential to be contaminated with
Salmonella. This action is a result of the PCA expanded recall of January 28, 2009 for all products manufactured in their Blakely, Georgia facility since January 1, 2007.
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the frail or elderly, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with
Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
The following recalled products were sold nationwide through grocery, mailorder and other retail stores.
