FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE --Lakewood, NJ -- February 5, 2009 --- Cuisine Innovations, LLC today announced a voluntary recall of frozen assorted flavor mini cheesecakes in response to the expanded Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) Nationwide Peanut Product(s) recall.
On February 4, 2009 the Gel Spice Company, a PCA customer and one of our peanut suppliers posted a recall notice indicating a "Potential Health Risk due to possible Salmonella Contamination" associated with their small granulated peanuts which are used as a topping for our peanut/ peanut butter mini cheesecake included in our assorted cheesecake items listed below.

Independent microbiological test results were NEGATIVE for the presence of Salmonella from our current inventory of Gel Spice Company Small Granulated Peanuts Item # 541000 541005 and no illnesses have been reported in connection with any of our products to date.
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. The recalled product has been distributed to the foodservice trade and selected retail stores in the United States.
