That sighting was about a half mile away, and I don't think it was Andy. However, last night about 11:00, he was on my front porch, but as soon as I opened the door, he ran. We looked for another hour, but couldn't find him. He DOES still have his collar and tags on. Then this morning at 5:00, he was in our front yard, but again, as soon as I opened the door, he ran. We cannot figure out why he has all of a sudden become afraid of us. This is a cat that spent the first 6 mos of his life trying to get IN our house!
A friend of ours has a trap (the kind you set food in and the gate springs shut when they go in to get it), so hopefully she'll get it to us this evening and maybe that will work. At least I know he's alive & has his tags. Please keep praying...we need to get him in...and there are thunderstorms predicted tonight...which terrify him.

That's great news that he's still around your house! They don't forget where they're from. I hope you can catch him!
My male cat, Tobie, is a feral cat also. He's afraid of loud noises and strangers also. He automatically goes into a closet when there's a thunderstorm. I never let him out either; he's so fast, I can't catch him. The last time he was outside, he immediately ran up a tree. Have you checked in your trees?
Keep us posted!

Elle, I'm thrilled he's back - even if you can't get him - you know he's alive. Keep us posted.

Elle,
Something or someone has scared him. Keep your patience and I am sure you will win him over.
Keep feeding him and leave a towel or one of your teeshirts out there with your scent on it. He will start to remember the good times and the kind humans that had him.
I will keep thinking of you and your fur baby.

ANDY-PANDA IS HOME!!!
I woke up about 5:30 this morning and something told me to look out back - there he was, sitting in the yard, watching the birds, etc. I decided to just watch him from inside for awhile. He walked around...got in a chair beside the pool, jumped down, went to the 'bird sanctuary' in back where we had a trap set, sat down & faced the house. About 45 minutes later, I chanced going outside. He looked right at me but didn't move. I came back in, got his bag of treats and a can of food...went out, shook the bag - he gave me a jittery meow...I popped the top on the cat food - he gave some tiny meows and started walking toward me. I walked slowly toward him, and he met me beside a lounge chair where I put the food down & picked him up. We immediately came inside, where he prompty ate 2 cans of food and some dry food. He's been purring and rubbing up against us and the Poms, playing with his toys, and being himself. Other than dirty paws and a couple fleas, he's fine. I've brushed him & flea-treated, and I'll have my vet check him out later this week - after he's had a chance to relax.
Thank you all for your prayers and positive thoughts...I'm sure that had a big part in his safe return. Charley has just returned from taking down all the flyers - a delightful chore! It's a VERY happy day here at the 'White House'!

Elle,
I couldn't be happier to read your latest post. What a nice way to start the morning. I am really so happy for all of you, I am sure things will be ok and work out now.
Let's hope that he doesn't go near anymore open doors in the future.

So happy your cat is back, Elle! They usually have a keen sense of where they belong.
