Believe it or not, Jason, you look exactly as I pictured you!
Rita is heading for my other little corner of the world, and my next-door neighbors in Islamorada are due to arrive here (Norfolk) late this afternoon. They left yesterday, even tho mandatory evac was not requested yet. Living on deep-water canal, I would have left as well, had we been down there at this time. Should hit as a Cat 1, and winds are expected to be about 80 mph, as of last report. There was a live-shot of Islamorada this morning on NBC... hwy A1A right in front of our post office! Our neighborhood (Venetian Shores) is at MM 82 in the Keys, just down island from Key Largo.
Prayers to all in Rita's path.

Hopefully you guys are just getting glancing blows of a storm that is not quite strengthened yet, but you guys have seen enough already anyway.
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/grap...924.shtml?5day
Check this projection out. This comes right up Houston's gut. It also puts Houston on the northeast quadrant which is the worst. Galveston is already calling for voluntary evac's to begin tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. That gives us all about 3-4 days to get out. I live in League City which is quite close to the water, so we are already making plans to leave our dreamhome that we just built 10 months ago.
Today is my only daughters 3rd birthday and cannot imagine leaving home, but too much reality from Katrina makes imagining it not an option. As Nike says "Just Do It!".

Jason, prayers are with you. If your house is that new, hopefully it is a hurricane house, as ours is in the Keys. It survived Andrew and Georges. Whatever the case, keep in touch when and however you can. Where will you evac to?
I have an elderly uncle & aunt in Brownsville, TX...they've gone to Iowa to stay with other elderly aunts & uncles (all are in their '90's).
Will this season never end?

Yes the new house is built to "hurricane code" and we have all the appropriate insurances including flood. The problem with the hurricane coming right up to Houston is the flood surge. A 10'-20' surge puts me under water without a problem.
Good thing is we have a two story and it won't reach that high so we can move everything up stairs and let it flood the lower floors.
If we have to evac, we will probably go towards San Antonio/Austin or on up through the I-35 corridor to DFW. Hope its not necessary. Anything less than a Cat 2 and we stay, but anything more than that and we are gone.
Good luck to you and yours!
Jason

We are already gearing up for this one and as far as anyone can predict, it will not be as strong as Katrina. But in an already crippled environment, logistics are going to be a you know what!
As many of you know, the company I work for does failure analysis and we also make a product that helps poles stand up straighter, faster and longer than normally if dirt was used. Needless to say we have been quite busy.
All those interested can visit our website at www.utilitystructural.com and you will see a little of what we do.
Also, in the personell section, there is unfortunatley a picture of me. Not the best picture, but a picture nonetheless. Do as you will with it!

Jason,
You look great!! Also I must say and agree with the other person...you look just as I pictured you would.
I sure hope you get a rest soon. I also hope that everyone gets some help and can talk with someone? I am sure this is got to be weighing on your mind and others and having an affect on all of you. You can't get away from it. Please take care and know that you have many friends.

Thanks Marlene...
Yeah its tough. It really is weighing on all of us in my company, but it also weighing on a lot of folks. Now it seems as though we may not be able to dodge this bullet but we are all so tired from workign 3 weeks straight and now we have to take care of our families.
There are so many logistical aspects of this now with all of the La residents here and now they may have to evacuate yet again turing their lives further upside down.
I have spoken with the City of League City and we are in a 500 year flood plain, and we may not have too much to worry about without knowing how much rainfal we will get. I am already making plans to get my wife and daughter out of here towards Palestine, Tx which is just south of DFW by about an hour and a half. They will leave probably Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.
I don't know when I'll get some rest, but now is not the time. There is still much to do.
On a personal note to all:
Thanks for all your well wishes and they are heart-felt received. Glad you all got to see a picture of me and put a name to the face, but I am a little confused as to how you all already figured how I looked?
