Jamie Taking on the Schools
Jamie has been on a crusade for some years to improve the food served in England's schools, and hence improve the nation's health. But can one man do it alone?
Do you think he can do it, or does he just annoy people?

I think that in the areas that he personally works with the schools and hence is able to show them a better way, he makes a big impact. However I am not sure he can fix schools the entire country wide.

We need him in the US
Looking at my son's school lunch menu gave me the horrors. No wonder we're seeing a huge rise in childhood obesity if the lunch menu here is typical. Hotdogs, pizza, cheeseburgers...it goes on and on. Almost every menu is very high in fat and sodium. It's sad really.

I saw in Time magazine (not sure how old, it was a waiting room copy) that the average school lunch has something like 1000-1500 calories. That means that eating almost anything else that day, and unless the kid is in a lot of sports, they are over eating.

I saw a program on him improving school lunches, on TLC or the food network. I must say I was very impressed with his methodology. I'd love to see more of that happening, our young people need it!
