She's nice but she bugs me. I don't know what it is. I don't enjoy watching her shows even tho the food looks good sometimes so I rarely watch them. I don't like the italian accent on the pronuciations she always uses etc. I am sure she has her own following tho.

Kathy that's funny. I remember she would get a lot of complaints about that over on the food network forums as well. Her over pronunciation can be a little too much sometimes... or maybe all the times. I wonder why she does that.

I think that perhaps the reason she sometimes over-pronounces is to clarify how an Italian word is, well, uh.....pronounced.

For example take bruschetta.......lots of folks say (bru-shetta) while the actual pronunciation is (brus-ketta)

Talk about over-pronunciation......every time Mario Batali opens his mouth, I want to hurl......

Ms. Hissy, I have the same trouble with Mario. All his pronunciations of things and a long winded history of everything. That gets on my nerves too. He is a really nice guy and makes some good looking stuff but I can't stand to watch him either. lol

I wonder if there's not a whole lot said about Giada because she's so low key. She's not bubbly like Rachael, or down-home like Paula.

I enjoy Giada's show, and also Mario Batali, because I am of Italian descent--my mother's father came from Sicily. However, my family moved to Florida (from the Boston area) when I was about 4 yrs old. My parents were eager to embrace the Southern culture and way of life, and the Italian traditions that my mother grew up with were not passed on. We had lasagna and homemade spaghetti very rarely; the only tradition that we still carried on was hot dogs and beans on Saturday nights (a Boston thing). Thanks to Giada, I have learned some traditional Italian dishes and how to prepare them. I've even impressed my mother!

I think you hit the nail on the head, Jolynn.
I think Giada is so pretty! She seems like a really nice person, too.

When I watch Gilda's show I'm so impressed with how well it's film. It's very entertaining for me - I have tried some of her dishes and it's been 50,50 with them. My next one I try(and I will cook her recipes again), I'll post the results.
I think she's got a special coming up??
