Great to see this part "open for business"!

Thank you for the new forum, admin! I bet it'll be one of the most popular places too as there seems to be quite a few here either affected by diabetes or that have a family member who is. A big thumbs up from me.

I thought I'd kick it off by adding a quick tip. A recommendation given when you're diagnosed with diabetes is to up the amount of fiber you eat. (Don't forget to increase your water intake at the same time and do it all gradually to allow your system time to get used to the new nutritional regime.) One of the simplest changes is to switch from white to wholemeal bread or white to brown rice, but the easiest way of all is leave the skin on fruit and veg as often as possible instead of peeling it.

Have you got a favorite culinary tip for diabetics? Let's hear them and get this place rocking!

I just want to say this is great. My father was diagnosed with Diabetes 25 years back, and so many things have changed in the world of diabetes since then.

This will be a great resource place for all the diabetes out there, or those of us who needs to cater for diabetes at dinners and family meetings.

Thanks for helping increase the awareness of diabetes.

I'm glad too. My mom and aunt are diabetic (well my mom was. She passed three years ago). My grandpa was too but never diagnosed. He was old school and didn't see doctors, ever. I try to eat healthy to avoid the disease, but can't seem to keep the weight off.

I have a few relatives that are diabetic so I want to learn as much as I can about it. Especially how to ward off this disease that seem to just creep up on you.
