Buffalo Wing Dip

Description: Best wing dip ever, without any of the mess of actual wings!
|
| Ingredients: |
- A pie pan, or a shallow, 9x9 circle cake pan.
- About a pound (or two breasts) of cooked, finely shredded (not chopped or cubed) chicken.
- A bottle of your favorite wing sauce. I use Hooters, mild.
- A container of cream cheese.
- Bleu Cheese, or Ranch dressing.
- About two cups of shredded mozzarella cheese.
|
| Preparation: |
- Preheat your oven to 400 Fahrenheit and cook for 10 minutes
|
| Instructions: |
- mix together the shredded chicken and the wing dip, and simmer it together for about five minutes on the stove, just to get the flavor in there. Set it aside, and let it cool. Coat the bottom of the pie pan with the entire container of cream cheese (the little tub, or about 3/4 a box). Then, add your layer of sauce and chicken. Coat that layer, with another thin layer of the bleu cheese or ranch dressing. Now add two cups of mozzarella cheese for the top layer.

No problem! I came across that one from a QVC cookbook, that I absolutely love.

The sound of this recipe seems delicious. But why is it that it has the name BUFFALO? I try to read again and again the recipe but I can't seem to understand the connection of naming it Buffalo Wing Dip. Pardon my ignorance.

-Grins.- Well, you know, this girl named Jessica Simpson once asked the same thing. I believe she said something about, "having no idea that buffalo had wings." It's because the particular recipe for wings with a kind of vinegar-y tang, versus the bbq way of cooking them, were invented in Buffalo, NY. Most agree they were invented in a restaurant called "Anchor Bar" in Buffalo, where people take their wings very seriously.

Buffalo Wing Dip
This is a great appetizer dish. I have made this as well (used Monterey Jack cheese) and it goes quickly. I serve it with chips and celery sticks (for the no carb crowd).

Really Beebee? Can I ask where you got the recipe? I can't find the cookbook where I got this one from anywhere, nor can I remember the name of it. I'd love to buy it again. But unfortunately, my brain doesn't seem to be working as well as it used to.
