Been away for awhile
I thought I'd drop back in after going on hiatus for awhile.
There have been some good eps of GE since I was last here.
The My Pod show that was on this week was a classic in my humble opinion. Just the right balance of humor and information, I will be trying the fruit salad for sure.
Next week's ep "Tender Is The Loin" should also be a show stopper.

I work second shift in the graphic arts field (used to call us Printers) but I suppose that is too blue collar nowadays , so I always have to record GE. I usually view it twice, once when I get home at night and the second time the next day. I seem to nod off on the first viewing (not AB's fault of course) . So the second viewing seems to stick a bit better.
I hope you get the time soon to watch the My Pod show Thinker, I do not want to say too much and spoil anything for you.
I'm looking forward to trying one of the recipes he used vanilla with, the other two probably not. You may see why when you watch the show.

Amazingly, I did manage to see the "My Pod" episode and enjoyed it quite a bit. On the other hand, I'm not likely to make any of the dishes myself. Nothing really special about any of them. Since there are so many wonderful things that can be done with vanilla/vanilla extract, it seems like AB chose a pretty limited selection of recipes. But he has used vanilla in many other shows, in many other ways so no big deal.
One thing I thought was just incredibly stupid - coring those pears with an electric drill. There was just no point in doing that. Surely he could have come up with a safer, more reasonable way to core a pear.

I have to agree with Thinker regarding the power drill to core a pear. That was cuteness for cuteness sake in my opinion.
Perhaps if I had to do a couple hundred I would give it a try, but for just 4 pears!
Speaking of which I do not think I want to use an entire bottle of wine to poach just four pears!
