Scripps Networks Interactive Inc., as part of a global expansion, will introduce its Food Network to Asia in January.
The channel will be programmed specifically for individual countries, Scripps said in a news release. It will be distributed through MEASAT Satellite Systems and Ascent Media.
“Given the remarkable success of the Food Network brand in the United States, it’s natural to bring this popular genre to Asia, where food is such an important part of culture and tradition,” said Greg Moyer, president of international development, in a news release.
In October, Scripps
announced a partnership with Chello Zone to introduce Food Network programming in Europe, Africa and the Middle East as a joint venture. The channel will debut in the United Kingdom Nov. 9.
Scripps Networks Interactive (NYSE: SNI), based in Cincinnati, operates cable and satellite TV networks and related Internet sites.
