After Julia Childs few people were able to make food quite as entertaining as one New Orleans man. With numerous television shows, cookbooks and restaurants across the country, Emeril Lagasse has made a place for himself in American culture. For all of you Chicago foodies who have dreamed of seeing him cook up close and person and hear him say his famous catch phrase “BAM”, the opportunity is right around the corner.
On June 26, opening day of
Taste of Chicago 2009, Emeril Lagasse will be making a special appearance at the Dominick’s Cooking Corner at 4 p.m. On top of cooking demonstrations, he will also be signing copies of his new book, “Emeril at the Grill.”
The Taste is scheduled to run from Friday, June 26th to Sunday, July 5th 2009. Along with Emeril, numerous other well-known chefs will be doing cooking demonstrations at Dominick’s cooking corner, including Chef Jimmy Bannos of Heaven on Seven, chef Tony Priolo of Piccolo Sogno and Devin Alexander, author of the “Biggest Loser Cookbook”. For a complete schedule of demonstrations including times and dates, check out the
Dominick’s Cooking Corner event page.
However, there is no doubt that the majority of us go to the Taste not only to watch people cook, but to eat great food. So here is a quick glance at just a sampling of some of the Chicago restaurants that will be serving food:
Billy Goat Tavern- will be serving their famous cheeseburgers and Rib eye steak sandwiches
Bacino’s Pizza of Lincoln Park – will be offering versions of stuffed and thin crust pizza
The Grill on the Alley- will be serving rice pudding with mango and cranberries
Kasia’s Deli- will offer polish sausages and pierogis
Hashbrowns- will offer mini dessert waffles and sweet potato fries
For a complete listing of Chicago Restaurants and food being offered, check out the list of
food booths at Taste 09.
So start saving room now, because Taste of Chicago 2009 is sure to go off with a bang, or should I say “BAM”.
