Food Matters: Mark Bittman
01/14/2009 at 9:00 a.m.
Food writer Mark Bittman lost 50 pounds and dropped his cholesterol and blood sugar levels by eating exactly what he wants. Okay, so he cut his consumption of animal products significantly, and tries to stay away from junk food and refined carbohydrates; but he's not strict about anything, and he says his change in eating habits has been remarkably simple. So simple, in fact, that he's here to recommend it to all of us. Mark Bittman's new book, "Food Matters," is both a cookbook and a manifesto that shows us how to eat better, and save the planet while we're at it.
