Our very own Jean Anderson won a James Beard award this weekend for her cookbook, "A Love Affair with Southern Cooking," published by HarperCollins. Anderson, who grew up in Raleigh and lives in the Triangle, won in the Americana cookbook category. She has written more than 20 cookbooks. The James Beard Foundation, whose awards are the Oscars of the culinary set, loves Anderson: she won the 2003 James Beard Award for Best Cookbook in the tools and techniques category; in 1992, she was named "Editor of the Year;" in 1994, she was inducted into the James Beard Who's Who in Food & Beverage in America; and in 1999, she was inducted into the James Beard Cookbook Hall of Fame.
