Cookbooks, and the authors behind them, will be the focus of this year's Bookfest at Ocean County Library's Toms River branch at 101 Washington St.
Bookfest, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, will feature appearances with more than a dozen authors who will autograph and sell their books.
Crafts and food-related activities for children will be offered. Sparks, the library mascot, and other costumed characters will be on hand.
Teenagers can compete in a dessert-making contest. For rules, go to

countylibrary.org or

Kim and Danny Alderman will tell stories and sing songs.
The Young Chefs Academy will whip up samples of Harry Potter-inspired treats, such as "Pumpkin Potion" and "Butter Beer."
Kitchen Sensei will provide Japanese snacks and will offer a chopsticks demonstration.
Toms River's annual Pizza, Pasta and Pastry Festival also is scheduled for Saturday on Washington Street. Free parking for both events can be found at the parking decks on Water Street and Hadley Avenue, or in the parking lot on Irons Street.
