BEAVER CREEK, Colo., Aug 01, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- For one weekend in August, Beaver Creek is host to a plethora of potent potables during the Beaver Creek Wine & Spirits Festival, August 7-9, 2008. This annual festival features culinary demonstrations, a wine auction that benefits local charities and a variety of opportunities to indulge in the finer things in life.
The Beaver Creek Wine & Spirits Festival features world-famous celebrity chefs from around the world including: Michael Cimarusti, Providence, Los Angeles; Joseph Manzare, Globe and Zuppa, San Francisco; Marco Stabile, Ora D'Aria Ristorante, Florence, Italy and Christoph Wagner from Rud-Alpe, Lech, Austria. In addition to the guest chefs, the culinary talents of locals Pascal Coudouy and Francois Millet, Bivans Restaurant; Mark Ferguson, Spago; Jay McCarthy, Beaver Creek Chophouse; David Walford, Splendido and Riley Romanin, Foxnut will be featured.

The Vail Valley Wine Auction has moved to Beaver Creek and is now part of Beaver Creek's Wine & Spirits Festival. The Eighth Annual Wine Auction will take place on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 6 p.m. at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa. Proceeds from the evening will benefit local charities including the Bright Future Foundation, the Culinary Institute at Colorado Mountain College, and the Vail Valley Rotary Clubs.
The event consists of a five-course wine pairing dinner attracting an all- star lineup of chefs. The silent and live auctions feature upscale and rare wines from a spectrum of wineries around the world as well as from the personal cellars of discriminating connoisseurs. The live auction also offers a rare opportunity to bid on custom vacation packages including a ski or hiking trip to Beaver Creek's sister Resort in Lech-Zurs, Austria, a VIP wine and cultural trip to Florence, Italy, an exclusive getaway to a private home at Hawaii's Four Seasons, a one-of-a-kind wine trip to California, a racing and wine experience at the Moto GP in Estoril, Portugal, and an adventure to Argentina's wine country.
Executive Director and founder of the San Francisco International Wine Competition and the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Anthony Dias Blue, will be in residence during the Wine & Spirits Festival. He brings with him the Double Gold Medal Winners from the competitions; guests of the festival will be able to sample these winners and learn more about both wine and spirits. Dias Blue is recognized world-wide as a leading food, wine, travel and spirits authority.
Other activities during the weekend include: "Fly Fish/Eat Fish"; the Culinary Demo Series; "Best Of" Wine Dinner; cooking classes; "Walk and Wine"; cocktail seminars and the "Best Of" walk around wine tasting.
