Maybe I didn't give him sufficient time to grow on me - or more likely we weren't meant to be. All I know is I tuned him out and just stopped watching his show. I figure there are better options out there on TV than AB.

AB is ALL RIGHT WITH ME! LOL
Mr. Alton is cool with me, to tell the truth it depends what I'm looking for, or wanting to hear etc. If I'm totally into Bobby Flay and his style then I go there..but when Alton B. appears I know what I'm going to get lots of "science" mixed in with the recipes and it all adds up to lots of learning and entertainment. His knowledge really comes in handy when I have tried a recipe a number of times and for some reason I do not get the results I expected. He seems to give great answers when I need them.....Alton is one of the "apples" on the food network tree some are tart and some are sweet and some great for making applesauce! LOL

I never watched much Alton Brown, besides in passing.
His show just never was able to hook me, and it is safe to say that Mister Brown is part of the reason for it.
He doesn't really irritate me, but he does nothing to keep me watching either.
Theres still worse out there though, trust me!

Alton's show is one of my favorites. When I first started watching FN his was the show that really pulled me in, mostly because of the humor. And I learned things that I had never even really given much thought to in relation to food. I like the quirkiness, the tongue-in-cheekiness, the weird costumes and props. When Alton's show is over, I've LEARNED something - and not just a recipe. To be honest, I don't watch it for the recipes - I don't honestly care for his cooking. I watch his show to see what crazy thing he's going to do next!

Love Alton
Love Alton's food technology skills I find them very informative especially the episode on Lemon Meringue Pie and why the two separate. He has foodie knowledge and I love it.

I've been under the impression that the shows on FLN are OLD episodes, like Michael C's Napa Living. The few others i've seen seem to be from 2003 &2004.
I thoroughly enjoy Alton's Good Eats. For amusement and education. I haven't liked any of the recipes I tried.

AB fan, new poster
I've been an Alton fan for years, and got the chance to meet him 2 years ago in Cincinnati OH when he did the Home and Garden Show up there. Not only was he insanely cute, but very intelligent, charismatic, and engaging. I got a gold ticket so I was able to meet him, and have him sign one of the cookbooks I've got of his.
The biggest appeal to me about his show is learning the science behind food. I like knowing why things happen the way they do, and from what he tells us, food scientists are often called upon by chefs to find out different things about food. It doesn't hurt that he's cute!
As far as his recipes are concerned, his ice cream bases and his sugar cookie doughs are the only ones I use. I just made his whole wheat crackers today, I overbaked one pan, but cut the baking time a bit for the second. They came out wonderful! I was afraid for years to make those things myself, because they never came out right for me. I now know I can make many more things homemade that I always bought from store brands. His waffle recipes are sublime, and I bought the waffle maker from his show to make them, although I use mini chocolate chips instead of the regular sized ones.
Before I end up taking a whole page on the website here, I just want to say I would much rather make his recipes that will teach me the science of cooking, and show me that not everything should be made/bought out of a box. Is it always more time consuming? Yes, but his products always seem to taste better.

You truely are a good Alton fan. That is so neat! Wow, to met Alton must have been a long wish. I heard before - Alton is the nicest person and no question to him is unanswered. I am glad that the tried Alton recipes have been delicious. Good for you for trying some longer recipes than the shorter versions. You certainly sound very please with the results. I enjoyed reading your post and it wasn't to long. So keep posting!
