All About Popcorns
Do you love eating them? Then you must learn about how it came to be?

Biblical accounts of "corn" stored in the pyramids of Egypt are misunderstood. The "corn" from the bible was probably barley. The mistake comes from a changed use of the word "corn," which used to signify the most-used grain of a specific place. In England, "corn" was wheat, and in Scotland and Ireland the word referred to oats. Since maize was the common American "corn," it took that name -- and keeps it today.

The oldest ears of popcorn ever found were discovered in the Bat Cave of west central New Mexico in 1948 and 1950. Ranging from smaller than a penny to about 2 inches, the oldest Bat Cave ears are about 4,000 years old.

Americans today consume 17 billion quarts of popped popcorn each year. The average American eats about 54 quarts.

One of the ancient ways to pop corn was to heat sand in a fire and stir kernels of popcorn in when the sand was fully heated.

That is quite an interesting read, makes me wonder though about the Bat Cave. And the heating the sane in a fire, I think I might try that next time we do a Bon fire, seems like it will be fun!

I'm still trying to figure out the "bibical acounts of corn" reference, considering that corn was unknown outside of the new world before the infamous voyage of Colombus, and the bible was perportedly written long before that voyage.
Also, the origins of the native North American is estimated at 3,000 years for the northernmost peoples, and only 1,000 years for the more civilized peoples such as the Aztecs and Mayans. So, who put that corn in the caves?

Maybe the bats eat corn kernels. I just don't have no idea about it since I have found those interesting articles regarding popcorn. I myself love to eat them and really have fun when I teach kids how to cook popcorn with just a pan with big space.

Speaking of popcorn, has anyone ever heard of this guy? We got some over the holidays as a gift, and some of the stuff was really mouth watering.

There is a video on Youtube.com showing four Japanese people popping corn using only their cell phones. It actually did work!
