American Bread

Some where on the forums is another thread on history of breads. The question was asked, do we have any American Bread that was invented in America? Most breads in America has been adapted from other countries - mainly France. And, this question came up about - geez - what about America?

There is hope - We do have one type of bread that is exclusively American. It was invented in America. I bet you eat this type of bread probably every day and didn't realize it was invented here! The bread is a sliced pullman white loaf of bread. It was invented and first introduced to the American public with the name of Wonder Bread. This was the first introduction of sliced white pullman bread in America. There hadn't been any other bread of this type introduced before Wonder Bread. Wonder Bread is also credited with being the first to introduce sliced bread.
